Short answer

Get Over Him and Heal both give you a fake texting screen, an AI to talk to and a no contact tracker. The biggest differences are price and the free option. Get Over Him has no free features but its yearly plan costs less. Heal has a free tier and a 7-day trial, but costs more per year.

What Does Each App Do?

Get Over Him

Get Over Him is built for women getting over a man. Its listing describes four parts:

  • Text him without texting him. A text simulator for the “I miss you” text, which, in its words, “shows you exactly how it would go.”
  • Mochi. An AI “best friend” to vent to at 2am.
  • No contact streak. Track your streak and watch your progress.
  • Daily reminders. A home screen widget that nudges you to stay focused on you.

Heal

Heal is built around one moment: you’re about to text your ex. Its main parts:

  • Unsent texts. A chat that looks like theirs. You write the message, it never sends, and an AI coach replies instead and asks what you’re hoping they’d say back.
  • SOS button. One tap when the urge hits: breathe for a minute, then write it out, read your reasons or talk to the coach.
  • No contact tracker. If you slip, your streak restarts, but your total and every day you made it stay on the calendar.
  • AI coach, private journal and a phase-by-phase path that shows what’s normal where you are.

Which One Costs Less?

It depends on how long you use it.

  • For a year, Get Over Him is cheaper. Its yearly plan is $18.99. Heal’s is $124.99.
  • For a week or two, it depends. Get Over Him’s weekly plan is $4.99, but there’s nothing free. Heal’s free tier keeps the tracker, SOS button, journal and 5 coach messages a day, and the 7-day trial unlocks everything.
  • You can’t try Get Over Him for free. Its listing says “You need to pay to use the app.” With Heal you can use the free tier as long as you like.

Get Over Him’s listing shows two different monthly prices ($14.99 and $29.99), so check which one the paywall offers you.

How Do They Handle Your Data?

App Store privacy labels are filled in by each developer. Get Over Him’s label says contact info, user content, identifiers and usage data are linked to you, and that usage data is used to track you. Heal’s label lists the same kinds of data as not linked to you, with no tracking.

If what you write to your ex in an app is something you’d want kept away from your identity, that difference is worth a look. Both labels are on each app’s App Store page.

Which Should You Choose?

Choose Get Over Him if:

  • You’ll use it for months and want the lowest yearly price.
  • You want a home screen widget reminding you to stay strong.
  • You’re on iPhone and happy to pay from the start.

Choose Heal if:

  • You want to try it free first, or keep using a free version.
  • Texting him, or wanting to, is the thing you keep getting stuck on, and you want an SOS button for that moment.
  • You’re on Android (Heal is on Google Play), or you want a journal and a calendar that keeps your days after a slip.

If you mainly want a day counter, you may not need either. Our best breakup apps comparison covers four more apps, including a free one.
