Breakup Healing
The Best Breakup Apps in 2026 (Honest Comparison)
Six breakup apps compared on what they do, what they cost and who they suit, from no contact trackers to AI coaches. Written by the team behind Heal.
Part of our getting over someone guide. Start with The 7 Stages of a Breakup: What's Actually Happening to Your Brain.
The best breakup app depends on what you need most: a no contact tracker, someone to talk to at 2am, or a way to stop texting your ex. Below, six apps are compared on what they do, what they cost and who they suit. One of them is ours, so we’ve tried hard to be fair to the rest.
Most of these apps only show their real prices on the paywall inside the app, and those change often. For the other apps, the table lists the in-app purchase range shown on each US App Store listing in October 2026. Treat it as a rough guide and check the paywall before you subscribe.

We left star ratings out. They change week to week and mostly reflect how long an app has been around, not whether it fits you.
How We Compared Them
We looked at each app’s App Store listing, pricing and what reviewers say about it, and asked five questions:
- Does it help in the moment? The hardest part of a breakup is the minute before you text, call or check their profile.
- Does it track no contact? Seeing the days add up is motivating, and most apps in this space do it.
- Is there somewhere private to write? Writing it out is one of the most useful things you can do after a breakup (Pennebaker, 1997).
- What does it cost, and when do you hit the paywall?
- Does it point you to real help when you need it?
1. Heal: No Contact & Breakup
Best for: the moment you want to text your ex.
Heal is our app, built around one situation: it’s late, you’re on your own, and you’re about to message them. Its core features are:
- Unsent texts. A chat that looks like theirs, where you write what you want to say. It never sends. The AI coach replies instead and helps you think about what you’re hoping for.
- SOS button. One tap when the urge hits: name what’s happening, breathe for a minute, then pick what helps (write it out, read your reasons, talk to the coach).
- No contact tracker. Every day without contact, laid out on a calendar. Slips show up next to the days around them instead of resetting you to zero.
- AI coach, private journal and a phase-by-phase path that shows what’s normal where you are.
Price: free to download with a 7-day trial of everything, then $12.99 a month or $124.99 a year. A free tier stays after the trial.
Worth knowing: Heal costs more than a basic tracker. If you mainly want a day counter, a cheaper or free one will do. Heal is worth it if texting them, or wanting to, is the thing you keep getting stuck on.
2. Get Over Him: Breakup Healing
Best for: no contact support aimed at women.
Get Over Him is aimed squarely at women getting over a man. It focuses on no contact and healing from heartbreak.
Price: its App Store listing shows weekly, monthly and yearly in-app purchases from $4.99 to $29.99. The listing says there are no free features, so the price you’ll actually pay is on the paywall after onboarding.
Worth knowing: expect to choose a plan early, before you’ve had a chance to try it.
3. Breakup Buddy
Best for: talking things through with an AI.
Breakup Buddy has been around since 2023, longer than most apps here, and its focus is an AI you can chat with about your ex and the breakup.
Price: new users get free chat credits. After that, the listing shows Pro plans at $17.99 and $42.99 and extra tokens at $7.99.
Worth knowing: if what you want most is a conversation, any time of day, this is a focused option. It leans less on in-the-moment tools for the urge to text.
4. No Contact Tracker: BreakUp
Best for: a simple day counter.
As the name says, this app is built around tracking your no contact streak. It’s available in six languages and was updated recently.
Price: free to start. The listing shows a weekly plan, a quarterly plan and a lifetime option, from $7.99 to $34.99.
Worth knowing: if the paywall offers a one-time lifetime price, that’s usually better value than a weekly plan, which adds up fast.
5. Breakup App: Let it Go
Best for: wanting other people, not just an app.
Let it Go combines a no contact tracker with a community of people going through the same thing, plus paid chats with human “healers.” It’s updated very often.
Price: free to download. The listing shows premium plans (monthly, 3-month and yearly) and paid packs of human “healer” chat sessions, from $9.99 to $139.
Worth knowing: if feeling less alone is what you need most, the community side sets it apart. Human support isn’t the same as therapy, so check who you’re talking to.
6. No Contact App
Best for: not spending anything.
No Contact App offers AI breakup help and no contact tracking for free, and says it has more than 100,000 users.
Price: free for core features, according to its website.
Worth knowing: free is a real advantage when money is tight after a breakup. Start here if you’re unsure whether an app will help you at all.
Which Breakup App Is Right for You?
- You keep texting them, or nearly do: Heal.
- You want to talk it through: Breakup Buddy or Heal’s coach.
- You want a counter and nothing else: No Contact Tracker or No Contact App (free).
- You want people who get it: Let it Go.
Whichever you pick, use the free trial or free tier for a few days before paying. You’ll know quickly whether you open it when it matters.
Do Breakup Apps Actually Work?
An app can’t make you get over someone. Time, people who care about you and, for some, a therapist do most of that work.
What an app can do is change what happens in the hard moments. Checking an ex’s profile, for example, is linked to more distress and longing and less personal growth after a breakup (Marshall, 2012). A tool that gives that urge somewhere else to go helps you stop feeding the loop.
So the best breakup app is the one you’ll actually open at 2am instead of their chat. If that’s a notes app and a friend who picks up, that works too. Our list of what to do instead of texting your ex has twelve free ideas.
Are Breakup Apps Private?
Most of what you write in a breakup app is about as personal as it gets, so check before you start:
- Does the app say where your journal and chats are stored?
- Can you delete your data?
- Does it ask for contacts or social logins it doesn’t need?
At Heal, your journal and unsent texts are private to you, and unsent texts never go to your ex. Read any app’s privacy policy before you pour your heart into it.
FAQ: Breakup Apps
What is the best app to get over a breakup? It depends on what you struggle with most. For the urge to text your ex, Heal is built for that moment. For a free option, No Contact App. Try the free tier or trial first, since the right app is the one you’ll actually open.
Is there a free app to get over him? Yes. No Contact App’s core features are free, and Heal is free to download with a 7-day trial and a free tier after it. Most others have a short trial or a paywall soon after you sign up.
Is there an app to stop texting my ex? Yes. Heal gives you a chat that looks like your ex’s but never sends, plus an SOS button for when the urge hits. Writing the message out without sending it often takes the pressure off.
What is the best no contact tracker app? Most breakup apps include one. For tracking alone, No Contact Tracker is free to start and No Contact App is free. Heal’s tracker shows slips in context rather than resetting you to zero.
Can a breakup app replace therapy? No. Breakup apps help with daily habits and hard moments, but they aren’t therapy. If you’re struggling to function or feel unsafe, talk to a doctor or therapist, or find a local helpline at findahelpline.com.
